I am trying to get this on my steam deck but every time I try to open the exe file it says select program you want to use to open the file franken.rpg. Does anyone have a fix? I am using linux and tried both downloads but nothing will open

w game

Great game. Very happy with how the ending turned out. More games should end the exact same way.

I cannot launch it :(
I am on Linux, x86_64, it does not work from the terminal neither and it does not appear to be a permissions problem.

i don't know anything about linux sadly (i just exported it to that and figured it'd work, i don't have a linux machine) so i can't help in any real way, but you could try getting the latest nightly version of OHRRPGCE and running franken.rpg through the custom program

I figured out that I had to install other packages. However I bypassed the problem playing it on Windows and I finished it in one session this morning ;-)
Appreciated! I will write a feedback in these days.
(Thanks for the quick answer too!)

Absolutely adored this game, cannot stop showing it to my friends

A perfect way to spend an hour

Have you ever experienced a piece of media that you could only describe as "Some being from a higher plane studied my entire life and then made something to appeal to my sense of humor specifically and only no one else's"?

This entire game was the funniest fucking thing I've ever seen.

(+2)

Wow!!! It was fun. Loved it.

Delivered something I didn't even realize I needed. Try it out!

Great music, great graphics. Best RPG I've played since Space Funeral.

Incredible game. A rollercoaster of emotions

I now understand why it's called Franken and I feel really good about myself. Great job as always, Splendidland!

 Rating: 1,000,000/10

Cerberus really made me laugh!  Excellent work!!

Hello I feel like a dumbass but does anybody know how to make the game fullscreen? I can't even see the full alphabet to name my character :(

(+2)

if you press ALT+ENTER it should go full screen!

(+1)

Thank you! I played the game. It's awesome <3

Keep up the good work!

Omg this game is so good i almost cried (at the ending)

Also i ran this on linux (mint) but had a pretty hard time setting it all up, so just in case anyone else had issues aswell, i had to download these packages:

sudo apt-get install libsdl2-mixer-2.0-0 libsdl2-image-2.0-0 libsdl2-2.0-0

:) again, very good game

in a short span of time you got me invested in this game and my only complaint is that it wasn't longer. This was a refreshingly goofy game, and it's genuinely very good. Please make more comedy games!

(+5)

this game fucking rules

(+2)

I love watching others play this game and finally downloaded it. The game opens and the title screen appears, but without any kind of menu... is it just my crappy old computer? I'm so confused

(+2)

press enter or space-bar and the game should start!

(+1)

Thank you, I feel… so foolish

it's okay, I really should have put a "press enter" prompt or something!

very streamlined and linear game. still good story but fighting feels empty except for a way to get more heath and drive the story a little further. dispite the dull gameplay the story is just entertaining enough to keep playing till the end. quite cute tho. :3 im still curious how the ohrrpg engine could handle some of the effects but i guess hampster magic is hampster magic

(-14)

A little too rudimentary. If you have X item or Y level, you literally cannot lose a fight.

(+23)

i think thats kinda the point

(1 edit) (+3)

I LOVE IT ALL

PS. There's a secret cave you can access once the rainbow bridge is made, but before you cross it. You have to go back from the moon and search in the mountains with the airship, but it's true, there is a secret cave.

Very fun and creative

Such a cute game. Probably not everyone's cup of tea, but that's OK, games don't have to be. If you like Earthbound, Deltarune, and/or Undertale, you'll probably like this :)

Glad this game exists.

(+2)

I mean, the creator of this is also working on Deltarune atm lol

This game was so much fun - and summarizing it to people without context is even more fun hahah

Unironically a great game!

(+3)

Ironically, the Linux port did not run on the Steam Deck, but the Windows version can

This game looks great, I'm learning English and I want to play a re-playable short RPG game for the first time to practice what I've been learning to. I'll give it a try, thanks for the game.

(+3)

I enjoyed playing your game, it was an emotional and funny adventure. My fav character was Peafe and the ending got me too. xD

i played this game when you first released it almost a year ago, but i did not have an itch.io account at the time... since then i have replayed it a few times, and now that i have an account i just want to say thank you for making this charming little game:D it has been very inspiring to me and is genuinely one of my favorite games in general because despite its size, the story/writing & artwork of this game create a super enjoyable experience, which is awesome!!! it also makes me even more excited for amazing treasure valley or any other projects you come out with:D
