Having a bit of difficulty getting it to run on linux - tried both versions in command line to no avail, I get the following error talking about a missing library:

./franken: error while loading shared libraries: libSDL2_mixer-2.0.so.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
unpacked from the tarball there is only the following:
i have never used a linux system in my life so i am pretty unable to help you i'm afraid! maybe try downloading the linux version of OHRRPGCE and running the .rpg file through it?
This game was incredible! I loved the art, story, comedy, gameplay, EVERYTHING! Sure, it was simple, but I think that added to the charm. This is for sure one of the best games I've played on my channel. Can't wait to see what you'll have for us in the future!
I remember telling myself half way through that if the last boss is defeated with "friendship" then the game was a meta work. This IS a parody/satire of abused tropes in writing. Like characters being all "we are best friends" literally seconds after meeting someone. Unceremonious deaths because "the plot demands it" Extremely lame attempts at "subversive story telling" [starwars]. like how hell knight was actually the MC's toy as a child. "OH WOW WHAT A TWIST!" [i actually laughed really hard at this part. it was really smart] Obvious foreshadowing, like the village where "nothing ever goes wrong"
There's a lot of things going on that are parody/satire. I just don't think that you fall in the target audience.
franken is absolutely the kind of game a kid in a sitcom would play and be like "aw mom!!! you made me lose another guy!!! i need to collect the magic resonance stones and take them to thunder mountain!!!"
As a creator of a funny and humorous rpg game myself i really loved Franken. Not only it's exactly the type of game i love to play the most (meme-styled rpg) but it's also incredible how well written the game is... good job!
I just played through all of Franken. And honestly, it's such a fun, whimsical, and comedic adventure with neat characters (my favorite character is 3 btw).
The sprite art is really adorable and the comedy is funny.
I thought I would really enjoy this game cause I like the idea of humorous rpgs. However as the game went on the brand of humor became very stale for me. I know its subjective but a lot of the jokes were kind of lame and felt like they had been recycled from other games. The ending in particular was very hard to sit through.
However, if not for the ending, I would have said that it's a good game overall, because there are a few glimpses of brilliance throughout. Particularly when satirizing the tropes of the rpg genre, all of those jokes landed and were genuinely hilarious. But the jokes about the characters acting quirky and breaking the 4th wall were not funny and have already been done to death in games like Undertale.
Hilarious and so good. I found it through Dunkey’s video and it did not disappoint. I was excited to learn the game dev is female, as a lady myself (30F). Please make some more! I will pay money :)
edit: I highly recommend playing before watching Dunkey’s review for ultimate hilarity.
This might be not only the best game on Itch.io -- but the best game the world has ever seen. The game the world needed but didn't deserve. Legit had a blast with this, a hilarious game that never takes itself seriously. Lots of Undertale vibes with less depression.
For anyone who is trying to stream the game with obs, I recommend using display capture over game capture. On game capture, the game will be choppy and slow for some odd reason.

So fantastic. Thank you for this gift <3
Lovely!
One of the best games to ever be made period
hearing that track from big o was crazy, to think a big song would come from such a little guy WHAT A WONDER
great game but you forgot direction fix on the one button in the wacky rainbow pyramid so it's literally unplayable

So perhaps a lib file is missing or some link is broken?

Try installing libSDL2-mixer like this:
sudo apt install libsdl2-mixer-2.0-0
worked for me on ubuntu :) if you have a different linux search the system repo for "sdl mixer"
That worked for me too (I am also on ubuntu)! thanks!

Love your sense of humor, great game! :))
I love everything about this game and it has inspired me to make my own games. <3 Thank you for this tiny gift to the world.
This writing is surprisingly good for a game that doesn't take itself seriously
I can certainly agree with that, tho it needs to have a rhyme or reason otherwise it's just weird for the sake of being weird.
This wouldn't qualify as satire or parody because neither of the elements are there for that.
it's a parody/loving homage to NES rpgs like the first dragon quest.
I remember telling myself half way through that if the last boss is defeated with "friendship" then the game was a meta work.

how do you Fullscreen
on windows, it's alt+enter
Works on all OSes
That was fun!
Yo, this was made in the OHRRPGCE?
Came here to ask that exact question. If both you and me can see the resemblance than it likely is :)
immediately on loading the game I was like "wait, this is OHRRPGCE" and sure enough in the tags (and credits) it confirmes it.
Is the main character we play as a girl?
they're whatever gender you want them to be
This game is freakin cool. The first actually funny IndieRPG
You know when TV shows reference videogames, and one character uses weird over-the-top lenguage that makes the game look stupid and convoluted?
That's what Franken is.
So do you like the game or not?
I loved it
franken is absolutely the kind of game a kid in a sitcom would play and be like "aw mom!!! you made me lose another guy!!! i need to collect the magic resonance stones and take them to thunder mountain!!!"
Looks awesome!

FUCK YEAH
CREATOR OF "MEGAMAN" DOES IT AGAIN
That's enough internet for one day...

I liked this game if you couldn't tell.
This is a fun, silly game! I agree with @pikminking100, however, I played the whole thing and had a good time. Thank you for making this!
I think you meant "OVER THERE" but you wrote "OVER TSERE"
an amazing game, enjoyed it to its fullest and had a blast with friends! sharing this around to as many people as possible!!!

High quality shitpost. Those battle sprites are honestly pretty damn awesome looking!
Very fun game. Reminded me a lot of Dragon Warrior. Great work!

Made another video for the finale
added a .txt file that lists all the music used in the game!
